COMMUNITY LIVING CAMP AND NSS CAMP - DAY 1

DAY 1 - 09 JANUARY 2026

The seven-day NSS Special Camp organized by NSS Unit No. KL-07-164 of Sabarigiri College of Education, Anchal commenced on 09 January 2026 at Sabarigiri HSS, Anchal. The day began with the registration process from 12.00 PM to 1.00 PM, during which the NSS volunteers assembled and completed the formalities for camp participation.

      Following registration after lunch, the camp activities officially began with an Ice Breaking Session conducted by Sri Brahmanayagam Mahadevan, Founder Chairman of Sahajeevan Special School and OJASS, Thiruvananthapuram. The session started with a warm welcome to the dignitaries by Shifana. Sri Brahmanayagam Mahadevan sir delivered an inspiring and interactive talk highlighting the importance of community living camps in shaping social responsibility, leadership qualities, and teamwork among volunteers. The session was lively and engaging, involving several entertaining and thought-provoking activities that encouraged participation and helped volunteers become more comfortable with one another.

After the ice breaking session, the Inauguration Ceremony of the NSS Annual Special Camp 2025–2026 was conducted. The ceremony began with the NSS volunteers assembling for the NSS Flag Hoisting followed by the NSS Song. The formal function commenced with a welcome speech by Smt. Jaseena A., NSS Programme Officer. The Presidential Addresswas delivered by Dr. Roy G., Principal, Sabarigiri B.Ed College. The dignitaries present for the inaugural function included Dr. V. K. Jayakumar, Chairman, Sabarigiri Group, Mrs. Sula Jayakumar, Manager, Sabarigiri Group, and Dr. Sabareesh Jayakumar, Secretary, Sabarigiri Group. Along with other distinguished guests, Dr. V. K. Jayakumar lighted the ceremonial lamp and officially revealed the name of the camp, marking the formal inauguration of the special camp. Felicitations were delivered by several eminent personalities including Principal, Sabarigiri English School, Smt. Sreedevi V. S., Principal, Sabarigiri HSS, and faculty members including Smt. Sreedevi V. K., Smt. Revathy U. P., Smt. Rakhi R., Smt. Meenu G. R., Smt. Shamla M. Shams, and Shyam Kumar S. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Aravind Ranjith, NSS Volunteer Secretary.

After the inauguration ceremony, volunteers had a tea break and fresh up session from 6.45 PM to 7.30 PM, followed by a Community Prayer from 7.30 PM to 8.30 PM.

The evening cultural session featured a Magic Show conducted by Dr. Edakkidam Santhakumar. The performance was highly interactive and entertaining. Both teachers and students actively participated in the magic acts, creating a joyful and energetic atmosphere among the volunteers. Dinner was served from 9.30 PM to 10.30 PM, and the day’s activities concluded with lights off at 10.45 PM, marking the end of a successful and memorable first day of the NSS Special Camp.

WEEKEND REFLECTION: WEEK 4 (10.08.2025)

The Natural Science Department of Sabarigiri College of Education conducted the weekly reflection for the first phase of teaching practice on Sunday, 10th August 2025. The meeting was held online via Google Meet from 10:00 am to 10:45 am. The session began with representatives from each school presenting their weekly reflections. Aparna first shared her own and my reflections from Karavaloor School, followed by Akshaya from Karukone School, who spoke positively about her week’s experiences. Then arathi presented her classroom experiences for the week. This was followed by Muhsina and Nuju from St. Goretti’s School, who discussed the challenges they faced due to recent changes in their assigned classes. Arya and Bhavana from Poredom School shared their reflections next, and Ameena from Vayala School concluded the presentations by sharing reflections for herself and Anuroop. TEACHING PRACTICE WEEK 7: 15.09.2025 (MONDAY) TO 19.09.2025 (FRIDAY)                                                           REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE MONDAY - 15.09.2025 I reached the school by around 9:10 AM. After signing the register, I went for my disciplinary duties. Once the bell rang, I proceeded to the staff room for the teachers’ prayer. Following the school prayer, I returned to our assigned classroom. Today, there were no teaching or substitution hours for me since it was the school’s parents’ meeting. All the parents of the students had gathered, and the entire day was devoted to that. In the afternoon, we served the mid-day meal to the students.
