CLASS ON ART AND AESTHETIC EDUCATION

As part of the B.Ed. curriculum in Art Education, a special session on song composition and poetry writing was conducted on November 21, 2025 by the well-known poet and writer K. Bhuvanendran Mangalapuram. The session focused on guiding student teachers to create songs that could be used to teach subject content in an engaging manner. It was a unique and enriching experience for everyone.
During the activity, student teachers were grouped according to their optional subjects and encouraged to compose songs based on topics related to their areas of study. The Natural Science group prepared and presented a Malayalam song on the topic of photosynthesis, which we titled “Illakaliley Mayajalam.” Students from other departments also created poems connected to their respective subjects and shared them with the class.
The session provided valuable insight into using creative methods in teaching and helped us understand how artistic approaches like song writing can make classroom learning more interesting and effective.
