TEACHING PRACTICE PHASE II: WEEK 1
TEACHING PRACTICE WEEK 1: 08.10.2025 (WEDNESDAY) TO 10.10.2025 (FRIDAY)
INTRODUCTION
Our Second phase of teaching practice is at AMMHS Karavaloor from 08.10.2025. The Principal of our institution "Sabarigiri College of Education, Anchal" - Dr Roy G allotted 6 students to the school. I (Pooja B I) and Aparna from Natural Science Department, Pooja S and Devika from Physical Science department, Anupama from Social Science department and Malavika from English department.
REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE
WEDNESDAY - 08.10.2025
Today marked the first day of our Phase 2 Teaching Practice. We arrived at the school by around 9:00 AM, signed the register, and handed it over to the Headmistress. Shortly after, we were assigned duty at the Science Fair conducted at Yeroor School. We were transported there along with other teacher trainees. The Science Fair was scheduled for two days – Wednesday and Thursday, with participation from students of more than 10 schools, including Karavalur School. The program officially began with an address by AEO Jaffer Sir. Following that, a brief staff meeting was held, where we were officially welcomed and our duties were assigned. The competitions for the day were conducted in four categories – LP, UP, HS, and HSS under Social Science and General Science Fair. Teacher trainees from Sabarigiri College of Education, Anchal first-year and second-year batches were allotted responsibilities. I, along with my colleague Lakshmi B.S, was assigned duty in the LP Collections section. There, we got an opportunity to observe the creative exhibits of students, including collections like coin collection. After our observation duty, lunch was provided by the school authorities, which we appreciated. Post lunch, I was given another duty in the LP section for chart writing. We continued our duty until the events of the day concluded. Before dispersing, AEO Jaffer Sir thanked all of us for our support and contribution. We left the school by around 3:40 PM, marking the end of a productive first day of Phase 2 teaching practice.
THURSDAY - 09.10.2025
Today, we reached Yeroor School by 8:30 AM. A short staff meeting was held in the staff room, where duties for the day were discussed. As on the previous day, we were divided into teams of two. Today, I was accompanied by my colleague Aravind, and we were assigned duty in the HS and HSS GeoGebra competition section. The competition began at around 9:15 AM, and it was engaging to observe the GeoGebra presentations and models created by the students. The event progressed smoothly and concluded by around 12:30 PM. Afterward, lunch was arranged by the school authorities, which we gratefully accepted. Post lunch, we were given another duty related to the seminar competition for UP, HS, and HSS categories. This session took more time and required careful observation. The entire program concluded by around 6:15 PM, and we left the school by 6:20 PM, marking the end of a long yet productive day.
FRIDAY - 10.10.2025
Today I reached the school by around 9.05 a.m. After signing the register, I went for my disciplinary duty in the school corridor. Then I returned to the teacher's staff room to attend the teacher's prayer. After the school prayer, we went back to the allotted room. My concerned teacher has given me class 9B also as my concerned class. So for the sevond phase of teaching practice my concerned classes are 8B and 9B. During the first period, I received a substitution in class, 8C.During the second and third period, there was a staff meeting regarding the school tour for students. So i had got the duty to look after the entire corridor which was the classes 7 B and C, 5 B and C and 6 B. In the afternoon, we served the midday meal to students. I had no teaching periods today. Sub-District kalolsavam practices were going on in the afternoon session. By 4.30 p.m., we signed the register and left the school campus.
CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The two-day science fair at Yeroor School brought together students from over ten schools, including Karavalur, with events held across LP, UP, HS, and HSS categories. Teacher trainees were assigned various duties such as LP collections, chart evaluation, GeoGebra, and seminar assessment. We observed creative exhibits like coin collections and interactive GeoGebra presentations, actively assisted in event coordination, and were officially acknowledged by the AEO for our support. The fair was a valuable opportunity to engage with students’ innovative ideas and gain practical exposure in event management and evaluation.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The two-day science fair hosted at Yeroor School saw active participation from multiple schools, with various competitions conducted under different sections like LP, UP, HS, and HSS. As teacher trainees, we were entrusted with responsibilities ranging from coordinating LP collections and chart work evaluations to supervising GeoGebra and seminar presentations. We witnessed students showcasing their talents through creative exhibits and digital models, making the event both educational and inspiring. The AEO expressed appreciation for our involvement, and the experience provided us with valuable exposure to event coordination, student assessment, and collaborative teamwork.
