TEACHING PRACTICE WEEK 7: 22.10.2025 (MONDAY) TO 26.10.2025 (FRIDAY)

                                     

                   REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

MONDAY - 22.09.2025
I reached the school by around 9:10 AM. After signing the register, I went for my disciplinary duties. Once the bell rang, I proceeded to the staff room for the teachers’ prayer. Following the school prayer, I returned to our assigned classroom. Today, there were no teaching or substitution hours for me since Today marked the practice day for Malhar Arts Day, and all the writing events began in the morning session. We were assigned duties to monitor the practice sessions happening in different parts of the school. Students were actively preparing for the main Arts Day events scheduled for the next day, and the entire campus was filled with practice activities and excitement. I personally got an opportunity to apply mehendi for the Thiruvathira participants, and I also assisted in choreographing a group dance for one of the teams. In the afternoon, we served the midday meal to the students as part of our teacher trainee duty. The practice sessions continued throughout the day, and by 4:30 PM, we signed the register and left the school campus.


TUESDAY - 23.10.2025
Today, I reached the school by around 9:00 AM. I signed the register. It was the Arts Day celebration of our school named Malhar, and the events were held across two stages. Stage One included dance events, drama performances, and folk song competitions, while Stage Two conducted speech and singing events. By 10:00 AM, the program was officially inaugurated by the school authorities. I had the opportunity to serve as a judge for the Malhar dance events, and my colleague Pooja S. was assigned as the judge for the singing competitions. Various events such as Folk Dance, Thiruvathira, Folk Song, Group Song, Group Dance, Patriotic Song, etc., were conducted with active student participation. During the lunch break, we served the midday meal to the students as part of our duty. After that, all the first-place winners of Malhar were directly selected to represent the school in the Sub-District Kalolsavam. The program concluded by around 4:20 PM, and by 4:30 PM, we signed the register and left the school campus.


WEDNESDAY - 24.10.2025
Today I reached the school by around 9.10 a.m. After signing the register, I went for my disciplinary duty in the school corridor. Then I returned to the teacher's staff room to attend the teacher's prayer. After the school prayer, we went back to the allotted room. During the first period, I got a substitution in my concern, Class 8B. There, I continued with the third chapter. The topic I took was "Different types of cell organelles in the plant cell - peculiarities and functions" and I made use of an ICT-enabled classroom. Later, during the third period, I had a substitution in Class 7C. I made them read english textbook. In the fourth period, I again had a substitution in Class 8B. I continued with the third chapter, taking the topic "Types of plastids in the plant cell - peculiarities and functions". During the lunch break, we served the mid-day meal to the students. In the fifth period, I got a substitution in Class 6B. I made them play vocabulary game. Soon after that, I again got substitution in my concerned class 8B in the sixth period, I continued with the third chapter, taking the topic "Types of permanent plant tissues - peculiarities and functions". By 4:30 PM, we signed the register and left the school campus.

THURSDAY - 25.10.2025
Today, I reached the school by around 9.00 a.m., signed the register, and went for my disciplinary duties in the corridor. By 9.25 a.m., I reached the staff room for the teacher’s prayer. After the school prayer, I went to my assigned room. In the first period, I got substitution in my concern, Class 8B, There, I continued with the third chapter. The topic I took was "Vascular or complex tissues in plants - peculiarities and functions". During the second period, we conducted our school based activity for class 9 students. It was a gandhi jayanti quiz. In the third period, I got substitution in Class 9C, where I monitored a test as instructed by the teacher. During the fourth period, I got substitution in my concerned class Class 8B, I continued with the third chapter. The topic I took was "Meristematic tissues and types of meristematic tissues - peculiarities and functions" . In the afternoon, I served the midday meal to the students. During the seventh periods, I got substitution in my concern, Class 8B, where I continued with the third chapter. The topic I took was "Structure of animal cell - parts and functions". By 4.30 p.m., I signed the register and left the school campus.

FRIDAY - 26.10.2025
I reached the school by around 8:45 a.m., signed the attendance register, and proceeded to the assigned room. Shortly after, I went for disciplinary duty in the corridors, and by 9:25 a.m., I attended the teacher’s prayer session. Following the school prayer, I returned to the assigned room. Today, I took a class for my concerned class, 8B in the third period, and continued with the third chapter, topic: "Different types of animal tissues - peculiarities and functions". During the lunch break, we helped serve the midday meal to the students. Later, during the fifth period, we conducted a field study session with Class 8B. All six teacher trainees together handled an awareness class for the students on the topic “Mental Health and Stress Management.” The concerned class teacher, Mrs. Aksa, addressed the gathering, and the session turned out to be very interactive and meaningful for the students. Later, I received a substitution again in my concerned class 8B during the seventh period, where I continued with the last topic of from the third chapter,"Stem cells and its significance". After school dispersal, we signed the attendance register and left the school by around 4:30 p.m. 

          CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

During this week, I have taken eight topics from the third chapter, Cell and Cell Clusters and has completed the chapter. The topics are as follows: "Different types of cell organelles in the plant cell - peculiarities and functions", "Types of plastids in the plant cell - peculiarities and functions", "Types of permanent plant tissues - peculiarities and functions", "Vascular or complex tissues in plants - peculiarities and functions", "Meristematic tissues and types of meristematic tissues - peculiarities and functions", "Structure of animal cell - parts and functions", "Different types of animal tissues - peculiarities and functions", "Stem cells and its significance".

                      EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The school conducted its Arts Day, titled Malhar, over the course of two days. On Monday, all literary and writing events were held. On the second day, a variety of stage events were conducted across two stages simultaneously. Students actively participated and showcased their talents with great enthusiasm. The first-place winners earned direct selection to represent the school at the Sub-District Kalolsavam. During the second period, a school-based activity was conducted for the Class 9 students in the form of a quiz competition based on the theme of Gandhi Jayanthi, and the winners were selected after the evaluation. Later, during the fifth period, an awareness session was organized for Class 8B on the topic “Mental Health and Stress Management.” All six teacher trainees jointly led the session, and the students actively participated, making the class informative and meaningful.

  OVERALL REFLECTION ON CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE

This week, I successfully completed the third chapter of Basic Science titled Cell and Cell Clusters with my concerned Class 8B. Across the week, a total of eight concepts were transacted, and all sessions were conducted as ICT-enabled classes, which made the learning process more visually enriched and engaging for the students. On Wednesday during the first period, I introduced the different types of cell organelles present in plant cells along with their peculiarities and functions using ICT visuals to enhance clarity. In the fourth period of the same day, I continued with the types of plastids found in plant cells, explaining their peculiarities and functions through an ICT-supported presentation. During the sixth period, I transacted the concept of permanent plant tissues, explaining their types, peculiarities, and functions using labelled digital diagrams. On Thursday during the first period, I dealt with vascular or complex tissues in plants, highlighting their structural features and functions using animated ICT support. In the fourth period, I completed the concept of meristematic tissues and their types along with their peculiarities and functions through interactive ICT explanation. During the seventh period, I continued with the structure of the animal cell, explaining its parts and functions with the help of clear ICT diagrams. On Friday during the third period, I transacted the concept of different types of animal tissues, explaining their characteristics and functions using real histology visuals through ICT. In the seventh period, I concluded the chapter by explaining stem cells and their significance, supported by ICT visuals that showed their application in modern medical science.
