TEACHING PRACTICE WEEK 6: 08.09.2025 (MONDAY) TO 12.09.2025 (FRIDAY)

                   REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

MONDAY - 08.09.2025
I was unable to attend school today because I was not feeling well.

TUESDAY - 09.09.2025
I reached the school by around 9.10 a.m. After signing the register, I went to the assigned room. When the first bell rang, we went to the staff room and took part in the teacher's prayer session. Then, after the school prayer, we returned to our assigned rooms.During the first period, I got substitution in class 8C, where I conducted an Indian Quiz session. In the third period, I went to class 7B. I noticed that the students were afraid of speaking in English, so I prepared a simple game to help them practice. I asked the students to remain quiet, and if I saw anyone talking, I made them stand. Within two minutes, they had to find another student who was talking. If they failed, they had to come forward and deliver a short speech in English on a topic I gave them. The students kept quiet, and it turned out to be an easy and effective way to maintain discipline throughout the period. During the fourth period, I went to class 8B, which is my concern class. However, the students had not brought their books, so I was unable to conduct the class. Instead, I engaged them in playing the Indian quiz game. During the lunch break, we helped serve the midday meal to the students. During this time, our physical education teacher instructed us to assist with preparations for the school sports function. He first asked us to prepare 600 chess numbers for the players and provided us with the necessary details. Finally, I was assigned as a substitute in class 8C during the last period. The students were already working on their tasks, so I mainly monitored them. Aparna was with me during this class substitution. With the sports day approaching, all the preparations were in full swing, and the ground and teachers were very busy. By 4.30 p.m., we signed the register and left the school campus.

WEDNESDAY - 10.09.2025
Today I reached the school by around 9.05 a.m. After signing the register, I went for my disciplinary duty in the school corridor. Then I returned to the teacher's staff room to attend the teacher's prayer. After the morning prayer, the Headmaster instructed all teachers to distribute the answer sheets to students and prepare the completed mark lists, grading them by 11:30 am without fail. This was an order from the DEO, and all the grades were to be sent to the DEO. As a result, all the teachers were busy with this task. After the school prayer, we went back to the allotted room. During the second period, the class teacher of 8C called the teacher trainees to the IT room. She asked for help in calculating the marks of the papers, recording the marks of all subjects for each student, and grading them. I spent the second, third, and fourth periods assisting her with paper correction, sorting marks, and grading. During the lunch break, we helped serve the midday meal to the students. After that physical education teacher gave us a bundle of chart papers and instructed us to prepare 600 chest numbers—150 for each of the four houses. We had to write the numbers, cut them out, and organize them. During the last three periods—the fifth, sixth, and seventh hours—I worked fully on preparing the chest numbers, drawing outlines, and cutting them. By 4.30 p.m.,we gave all the charts and chest numbers to pt sir, signed the register, and left the school campus.

THURSDAY - 11.09.2025
Today I reached the school by around 9.15 a.m. and went to the assigned room. I was feeling very unwell today, but I still went to school. After arriving and starting my work of cutting and writing the chest numbers, I began to feel worse and eventually vomited. Despite this, I managed to complete writing 150 chess numbers. Feeling very unwell, I requested permission from the Headmistress to leave the school and go home. She advised me to seek permission from my concerned teacher, which I did. After receiving approval, I left the school campus in the afternoon by around 12.50 pm.

FRIDAY - 12.09.2025
I reached school around 9:05 am. The school was very lively, colorful, and energetic—more than I had ever seen it before. Teachers were busy with many tasks, music was playing in the background, and the atmosphere was full of happiness and pride. As I helped the teachers, one of them asked me if my father was the chief guest. I replied that I didn’t know, as my father hadn’t told me. Later, she showed me a photo of the sports day poster, and I saw my father’s picture as the chief guest. I felt very proud.
I helped the teachers with their work, and soon my fellow B Ed trainees joined me. By around 10:00 am, we had completed our preparatory duties, and the official program began. It started with the march past of the four houses—Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue—led by the school head boy and the respective house captains. Boys carried their house flags, and after the march past, there was an oath-taking ceremony led by the head boy. The welcome address was given by the Physical Education teacher, Akhil Thomas. The officials present included PTA members, former PTA members, the Headmistress, and my father Biju B R. The Olympic torch was lit by four students and finally passed to my father, who placed it on the ceremonial pillar. My father then delivered the inaugural address, officially inaugurating the sports day. Felicitations were given by Anitha Thomas ma’am, and the vote of thanks was delivered by our Headmistress, Suja Matthew. After the formalities, the sports events began. We had duties for several events, including the long jump, 100m, 200m, 400m, 600m, 1500m, and short put. Each event had many heats, as around 20–25 students participated per heat. It was hot and sunny, and the work was tiring. My main responsibility was to record videos of the final entries to the finish line to avoid any confusion or disputes regarding the results. I also wrote down the results and submitted them to the official authorities. My fellow teacher trainees from Sabarigiri assisted in their respective duties as well. The physical education teacher officially thanked us for assisting him. The program concluded around 4:40pm. Red House won first place, Yellow House came second, and Blue House came third. We signed the register and left the school campus after a day full of energy, excitement, and pride.
