GENERAL REFLECTION: WEEK 5 (18.08.2025)

WEEKEND GENERAL REFLECTION: Week 5

On August 18, 2025, we had our weekly reflection session at Sabarigiri College from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the general hall. The program was attended by our Principal, Roy Sir, along with faculty members Sreedevi Miss, Meenu Miss, Revathy Miss, Jaseena Miss, Rakhi Miss, and Shyam Sir.

The session began with Joyce from Sabarigiri School, who shared her positive teaching experience. She felt that her personality, voice modulation, and classroom management skills had improved considerably, and she had developed a strong connection with her first-standard students.

Jerin from Punalur St. Goretti spoke next, highlighting how her teaching abilities had grown and how the school successfully balanced both curricular and co-curricular activities.

Ashna reflected on her time at Edamulackal Jawahar School, describing it as both challenging and enlightening. She noticed that many students lacked basic knowledge, even in vocabulary, and she worked to improve their behavior. She also pointed out that hesitation and distance between boys and girls still persisted among the students.

Summaya from Ayur Jawahar shared that the smaller number of students at her school made classroom management easier and allowed her to form closer bonds with them. She also mentioned the heartbreaking incident of a tenth-standard student who had taken his own life.

Arjun from Poredom School described his experience as very positive, emphasizing the supportive attitude of the headmaster and students. Bhavya from Puthayam School discussed the challenges faced by students with weak foundational knowledge in math and language. Despite the struggles, she felt attached to the school community and was saddened to return to college.

Aiswarya from GHSS Karukone shared her rewarding experience, noting the encouragement she received from the headmaster and teachers. While the students were cooperative, she observed that issues with discipline and class management remained. Ameena from Vayala School also faced similar struggles, as many of her students lacked basic mathematical skills such as addition and subtraction, which posed challenges for the trainee teachers.

Revathy from Yeroor School highlighted the positive changes happening there, and she appreciated the friendly and cooperative nature of the teachers. Finally, Shifana from West GHSS reflected on how her time there gave her valuable insight into what qualities a teacher should and should not possess. Soorya and Ashwathy also added encouraging reflections about their experiences at West School.

The session concluded with an address by Roy Sir, who summarized the major points discussed and guided us regarding our future tasks.
