WEEKEND REFLECTION: WEEK 2

The Natural Science Department conducted its second weekly reflection session for the first phase of teaching practice on Sunday, 27th July 2025, at 11:00 a.m. The session was held through Google Meet under the guidance of our class teacher, Sreedevi Miss.

The session began with a discussion on the feedback received from our general teacher observations. Some trainees had already completed theirs and shared the appreciations and suggestions given by their general teachers. Miss particularly asked whether we had checked and recorded the grades given during the observation. Many of us admitted we hadn’t, and she stressed the importance of noting down our grades for proper self-evaluation.

In some cases, the general teachers had not provided any feedback at all. Miss advised those trainees to personally collect the feedback from their concerned teachers and ensure it was written both in their reflective journal and blog.

She then inquired about the number of lesson plans completed so far. Akshaya once again topped the list with the highest number of lesson plans completed in this short span. Miss reminded us of the consequences of delaying this task, pointing out that if we do not complete lesson plans now, it will become burdensome as time progresses.

Following this, Miss asked who had completed the e-content work. Only five of us had completed it, and five—including myself—had yet to do so. She asked us to suggest a final submission date. I requested one more week, which she granted, extending the deadline to the following Sunday. Everyone agreed to this.

She also assigned a list of tasks to be completed and submitted by the next Saturday:

Diagnostic test

Rough question paper

15 completed lesson plans in the fair record

E-content record

After this, the session moved on to school-wise weekly reflections. Each school team shared their experiences. Some spoke about the ongoing unit tests, while others highlighted discipline issues among students. Miss then discussed the observation schedule for the upcoming week and asked a few trainees to make adjustments in their hours to ensure she could complete all observations smoothly within the week.

When it was our turn, Aparna and I shared a memorable experience we had on Saturday—interacting directly with the District Educational Officer (DEO). Miss appreciated our experience and instructed us to write about it in detail in both our reflective journal and blog, emphasizing how such events are significant in our B.Ed journey. We shared our insights with our peers and documented the experience as instructed.

Before concluding the session, Miss once again reminded us of all the pending works and guided us with valuable feedback and suggestions. The meeting ended on a very constructive note, giving us a clear direction for the week ahead.
