WORLD WILDLIFE DAY CELEBRATION
World Wildlife Day was celebrated on March 5, 2025, at Sabarigiri College of Education, Anchal, as part of the NSS activities, with events organized by the Natural Science Department. Though the official observance falls on March 3, the celebration was a vibrant effort to raise awareness about wildlife conservation and promote environmental consciousness among students.
The event was hosted by Nuju, who opened the session with enthusiasm and energy. Akshaya shared the "Thought of the Day," setting a reflective tone for the program. The Principal, Dr. Roy, delivered an inspiring speech on the vital relationship between humans and the natural world, emphasizing our shared responsibility to protect it. Ameena also addressed the gathering, offering insightful reflections on the importance of conserving endangered species and the urgent need for action.
To enhance engagement and creativity, a series of competitions were conducted:
A department-wise video-making competition featured entries from the English, Physical Science, and Mathematics departments, showcasing unique perspectives on wildlife protection.
A slogan-making competition encouraged impactful messages and creativity, led by the Physical Science Department.
A speech competition challenged participants to speak on the rising issue of human-wildlife conflict and its solutions, with topics given just an hour before the contest began.
Additionally, a photography competition inspired students to capture the beauty of wildlife and nature through their lenses.
Reeba secured first place in the speech competition for her compelling presentation. The Mathematics Department won the video-making contest, while the Physical Science Department took the top spot in the slogan-making competition.
Two teachers from Sabarigiri State School were invited as judges, and the Principal awarded the prize to the Mathematics Department. Archana Teacher presented the award to Reeba, and Akila Teacher handed over the prize to the Physical Science Department. As a gesture of appreciation, Dr. Roy Sir presented tokens of gratitude to the judges for their valuable time and insights.
The celebration concluded with a warm vote of thanks by Aparna, acknowledging the dedication of all participants, organizers, and judges. More than just a celebration, the event served as a call to action—reminding everyone of the urgent need to protect our planet’s wildlife and maintain ecological balance. The passion and awareness displayed by the students reflected their deep connection to nature and commitment to conservation. Let us move forward with a renewed sense of purpose—to create a world where humans and wildlife coexist in harmony, safeguarding the wonders of the natural world for future generations.
