PI DAY CELEBRATION
On March 14, 2025, Sabarigiri College of Education came together to celebrate Pi Day with enthusiasm and creativity. The event was jointly organized by the NSS unit and the Mathematics department, and it offered a perfect mix of learning, fun, and student participation.
The celebration began with an engaging talk by a professor, who shared interesting insights into the history and significance of Pi. The discussion explained Pi’s infinite nature and its importance in understanding the world around us, sparking curiosity among both students and teachers.
The event was hosted by Ashna, while Ashwathy welcomed everyone with a warm speech. Our Principal, Jaseena Miss, along with Kripa, addressed the gathering and spoke about the relevance of celebrating Pi Day. Their words encouraged everyone to see mathematics in a new and exciting light.
The first activity was a fun quiz titled "Guess the Mathematician." Two students from each department took part:
Natural Science: Aparna and Nuju
English: Gloria and Ammulekshmi
Physical Science: Aiswarya and Alaka
Social Science: Shamnad and Reeba
In the end, Physical Science and Social Science departments were declared winners and received prizes from the Principal. Other participants were also given small gifts as a token of appreciation.
Following this, Anamika presented a colorful and informative poster on Pi, which was well-received by the audience. To add a creative twist, Ashna, Kripa, and Amrutha performed a graceful dance, blending art with mathematics.
Next came a treasure hunt, guided by Riya, which brought a sense of adventure to the day. Teams from each department participated:
Natural Science: Muhsina and Arathi
Physical Science: Devika and Jerin
English: Akshara and Bishnuja
Social Science: Vinitha and Anakha
The Social Science team emerged as winners and were awarded prizes by the Principal.
The entire celebration was a wonderful blend of education and enjoyment, reminding everyone that mathematics isn’t just a subject—it’s a world of fun, exploration, and creativity. The event concluded on a high note, leaving behind a renewed appreciation for the wonders of Pi and the joy of learning together.
