FIELD TRIP

DATE : OCTOBER 10

On October 10th, 2024, fifty-two teacher trainees, along with our teachers and principal, embarked on a field trip to various notable locations in Trivandrum. The trip was part of our curriculum and aimed at providing a unique learning experience outside the classroom.

The field trip commenced from our college, with the bus departing at 7:00 AM. The students and teachers had carefully selected each location, ensuring a diverse and enriching experience. Our first destination was the Kilimanoor Palace, which we reached by 8:40 AM. This historic palace is renowned for being the birthplace of the famous painter Raja Ravi Varma. We had the opportunity to witness his paintings, as well as those of his sister, and explore the palace's temple and surroundings. The tranquil atmosphere of the palace made for a memorable experience.

Our next stop was the Trivandrum Art Gallery, which we arrived at by 10:40 AM. This gallery is a treasure trove of Raja Ravi Varma's most famous paintings, showcased in an impressive display. We were required to pay an entrance fee of fifty rupees. The gallery provided a unique insight into the life and works of this celebrated artist.

Following the art gallery, we visited the Planetarium, which proved to be an engaging and informative experience. The Planetarium featured various displays on physics and mathematics, with the highlight being a 3D film on the planets, solar system, satellites, earth, and moon. On the day of our visit, the featured film was on meteors, meteorites, and the earth. The immersive experience made us feel as though we were witnessing the meteors firsthand.

By 1:30 PM, we arrived at Vizhinjam for lunch. This restaurant is renowned for its seafood delicacies, and we thoroughly enjoyed the various fish dishes. Satiated, we proceeded to the Vizhinjam Marine Aquarium, where we marveled at the diverse species of fish, turtles, sharks, and other marine life.

Our subsequent destination was the Vizhinjam International Sea Port, which we viewed from a distance. Although we did not enter the port, observing the bustling maritime activity was an enlightening experience.

We then visited the Azhimala Temple, notable for its massive statue of Lord Mahadeva. We spent a considerable amount of time exploring the temple and its surroundings.

By 5:00 PM, we arrived at the Kovalam Beach, where we spent an hour reveling in the sea breeze, waves, and tranquil atmosphere. As the sun began to set, we departed the beach at 6:00 PM.

We had dinner at Arya's Restaurant in Kilimanoor at 8:00 PM. Following dinner, we left the restaurant at 8:30 PM and arrived back at our college by 9:30 PM. On the way back, students were dropped off at their respective stops, where their parents were waiting to receive them.

The field trip was a resounding success, providing a unique and enriching experience for all participants. The diverse range of locations and activities ensured that there was something for everyone, and we returned to our college with memories that will last a lifetime.
