SCHOOL INDUCTION PROGRAMME: DAY 2 (22-10-2024)

DAY 2

On the second day, October 22, 2024, Tuesday, we arrived at the school at 9:15 a.m. We signed the attendance register and then proceeded to the classroom assigned to us.

REFLECTION ON SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

During the second period, we conducted a shared class for the students. In the fourth hour, while the teachers were arranging desks and benches for a program, we assisted them in setting up the tables. Today, we had the opportunity to serve lunch to the students as part of the noon meal program, which was a unique experience. At the beginning of the afternoon session, the teacher asked us to inform the students of 9C about the program and escort them to the program hall. In the afternoon session, we conducted another shared class for the students. We observed practice sessions for various events, including vanchipaattu, school band, and kho-kho on the school ground. After the national anthem, there was a staff meeting, and it was also raining. In the absence of teachers, we were assigned disciplinary duties. Finally, we signed the attendance register and left the campus by 4 pm.

REFLECTION ON CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

At 10:30 AM, Aparna and I conducted a shared class for Standard 8, Division C. The total strength of the class was 32, with 29 students present. Initially, I asked simple day-to-day questions to engage the students on the topic, and then began teaching "Reaping Diversity" from the unit "Let's Regain Our Fields." I covered the topics of livestock management, poultry farming, sericulture, pisciculture, and floriculture for the first 20 minutes. Aparna then took over and covered the remaining topics of apiculture, mushroom cultivation, horticulture, and medicinal plant cultivation for the next 20 minutes. After teaching, we asked questions related to the topic and asked some students to write the answers on the blackboard. The class ended at 11:30 AM. The teaching aids used were the blackboard, chalk, and textbook.
At 2:25 PM, Aparna and I conducted another shared class for the students of Class 8C. Before introducing the topic "Animal Tissues and Plant Tissues" from the unit "Cell Clusters," Aparna asked the students some basic questions about tissue, and some of them responded. She then began teaching animal tissues, followed by questions on the topic. I took over for the next 15 minutes, covering plant tissues, including simple and complex tissues, vascular tissues, and their functions. After teaching, I asked questions to the students. The teaching aids used were the blackboard, chalk, and textbook. The class ended at 2:55 PM.
