AWARENESS CLASS ON WOMEN HEALTH AND MENSTRUAL HYGIENE
As part of the International Women’s Day celebrations, the Druta College Union and NSS of Sabarigiri College of Education, Anchal, organized an awareness session on women’s health and menstrual hygiene on March 7, 2025. The class was led by Ms. Varsha C P, Junior Health Inspector at the Community Health Centre, Anchal. The session aimed to educate students on key aspects of preventive healthcare, menstrual well-being, and mental health, while promoting open conversations and challenging long-standing taboos.
The program began with a warm welcome address by Malavika, who introduced the guest speaker. Varsha Ma’am delivered an insightful and engaging session, touching upon a wide range of topics such as menstrual hygiene, common period-related issues like mood swings and pain, and the myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation. Her clear explanations and friendly approach made it easy for students to understand and participate.
She also shared practical tips on selecting the right menstrual products, maintaining hygiene, and staying healthy through proper nutrition, exercise, and self-care. The session highlighted how mental and physical health are closely connected, especially during the menstrual cycle. Students were encouraged to raise questions, making the session highly interactive and informative.
One of the key strengths of the program was its focus on myth-busting and creating a safe space for open discussion. The session emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in supporting women’s health and creating an environment where young women feel informed and empowered.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Unnimaya, followed by the presentation of a memento by Prathibha Ma’am to Varsha Ma’am, as a token of appreciation for her valuable contribution.
This awareness class was both educational and empowering. It helped participants gain a clearer understanding of menstrual health, encouraged open dialogue, and reminded everyone that health awareness is a crucial part of personal development. The session was a meaningful way to honor Women’s Day and left a lasting impact on all who attended.
