WORLD CANCER DAY
On February 4, 2025, Sabarigiri College of Education observed World Cancer Day as part of the NSS initiative to spread awareness about cancer. The event aimed to educate students about the importance of early detection, prevention, and collective responsibility in the fight against cancer.
The program was hosted by Stephy and Gloriya, who ensured a smooth and engaging flow throughout the event. Prathibha delivered the welcome speech, emphasizing the significance of raising awareness and the role of early diagnosis in saving lives. This was followed by an insightful session by Priyatha Miss, who elaborated on the causes, symptoms, and preventive measures associated with different types of cancer.
A detailed PowerPoint presentation added academic depth to the event. It was prepared and presented by Unnimaya, Lekshmi, Arjun, Malavika, and Haseena, each focusing on a specific type of cancer:
Unnimaya – Bone Cancer
Lekshmi – Brain Cancer
Malavika – Breast Cancer
Haseena – Lung Cancer
Arjun – Stomach Cancer
To reinforce the key messages visually, Ammulekshmi organized an impactful poster presentation, effectively communicating crucial facts and prevention tips.
A unique and interactive feature of the program was the mock doctor consultation desk, set up by Shifana and her team. This gave students practical insights into the diagnostic process and treatment pathways, enhancing awareness and empathy toward patients.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Silla, who acknowledged the contributions of all participants, speakers, and organizers. The observance of World Cancer Day served as a meaningful reminder of the need for awareness, timely action, and community support in the ongoing battle against cancer.
