INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR WOMEN & GIRLS IN SCIENCE CELEBRATION
To recognize the contributions of women in science, we, the teacher trainees of Sabarigiri College of Education, in association with NSS, celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on February 11, 2025. The event took place at 9:45 AM in the General Hall, with a series of inspiring speeches, presentations, and interactive activities that promoted gender equality in science.
The event was anchored by Pooja, who maintained a lively atmosphere throughout the session. It began with a warm welcome speech by Gopika, setting the tone for the day's theme. Jerin spoke passionately about the need for equal opportunities in STEM fields, emphasizing the underrepresentation of women and the importance of breaking barriers. Keerthy followed with a presentation highlighting the achievements of pioneering women scientists, inspiring everyone with stories of resilience, brilliance, and innovation.
A major highlight of the event was the Science Room Escape Challenge, creatively organized by Bhavya, Pooja, Alaka, and Devika. This innovative activity included subject-specific problems from Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The challenge encouraged teamwork, scientific thinking, and problem-solving. Arathi and Muhsina, representing the Natural Science Department, emerged as winners, adding excitement and accomplishment to the event.
The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Sumayya, who appreciated the efforts of all participants and organizers. The event was a resounding success, leaving everyone motivated to support and promote more inclusive participation in scientific fields.
