NATIONAL NEWSPAPER DAY CELEBRATION

On January 29, 2025, Sabarigiri College of Education observed Indian Newspaper Day with an informative and engaging program held in the General Hall. This day commemorates the crucial role newspapers play in shaping public opinion, disseminating information, and upholding democratic values.

The event was anchored by Arathi, who opened the session by welcoming the audience and highlighting the day’s significance. Muhsina delivered a thoughtful speech on the importance and relevance of newspapers in modern society. She emphasized how newspapers remain a powerful medium for promoting awareness and accountability.

Jaseena Miss shared insightful reflections on the evolution of newspapers, comparing the early days of print journalism with today’s dynamic media landscape. Her talk offered a historical perspective and highlighted the resilience of print media despite the digital boom.

A video presentation followed, showcasing the history of newspapers in India, including major milestones, influential publications, and key figures who contributed to the growth of Indian journalism.

Adding an element of interaction, Aparna conducted a quiz session focused on facts and trivia about newspapers. The quiz was well-received and actively engaged the audience, reinforcing key learnings from the event.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Arathi, who expressed gratitude to all participants, speakers, and attendees. The celebration of Indian Newspaper Day served as a timely reminder of the power of the press in a democratic society and its continuing role in educating, informing, and empowering the public.
